I had to skip past some of the Severance stuff as I am midway through and feeling so behind! But yay for Ted Lasso and the key people better be coming back, it just wouldn't be the same without them. Also, the fish doorbells - this is honestly something I think I never would have discovered without this read!
Ohh yes good you skipped I think this was one of my more spoilery reviews. Please come back and let me know what you thought of the finale when you're done! I'm really curious.
The fish doorbell is such a unique thing I had to share! I have to say the dutch government is next level with those things.
Haha do you use Apple TV+? Because if you don't then that sounds fair. If you do then yea I have no idea how I managed to avoid the 2 shows seeing how much they push both 😂.
Haha ok then no excuse! Get with the program Ingrid 😁. No but seriously when you have the time both are definitely worth it! And they both get new seasons so you can bing before they come back.
The fish doorbell is one of my favourite things I have read about on here on Substack. I definitely need to jump on the Severance train soon but there is just something holding me back from watching it. As for noteworthy events I suppose it has been a bit of a whirlwind here in Canada with Justin Trudeau stepping down, Mark Carney taking over, and us heading into a snap election.
Oh god yes you canadians have a lot to deal with right now. I'm sending all my support from Europe.
What's holding you back for Severance? I will say it's definitely a very specific type of show / cinematography. I don't think it works for everyone but the plot and world building is definitely interesting and unlike anything I've seen.
I think what is holding me back from watching Severance is all the hype ironically. Whenever a show gets so much praise I just feel this instinct to avoid it. It just feels sort of like pressure to immediately love something everyone else is already familiar with and if you don’t it feels like you are not in on a joke everyone else is. Also, the office setting reminds me of The Office which is a show I tried to force myself to like since everyone else loves it and it never clicked for me and eventually I found the show upsetting when it played an animal violence plot regarding Dwight for laughs.
I don't know if that will help but I didn't like the office that much. Mostly I found Michael too close to some horrible bosses I have met in real life 😅. Severance is really really different. A lot more weird vibes / black mirror ish. If you were put off by the animal violence, Severance has a close call in the finale but it works out for the animal.
I totally think the hype will ruin the watching a bit though. It's an awesome show but I don't know if it can live up to so much hype.

I can’t believe I haven’t watched either Severance or Ted Lasso yet. Get with the program, Ingrid!!
And I might be biased but I would start with Ted Lasso. It's just so wholesome. Like a big hug

I do AND I’ve heard so many people rave about both shows. I know once I watch them I’m probably going to be like- I can’t believe I waited so long!
